According to this article on ESPN.com, more than 1,400 Kansas City Chiefs fans have signed a petition that is addressed to GM Scott Pioli, citing their disapproval of running back Larry Johnson and asking Pioli to deactivate Johnson so that he cannot pass Priest Holmes to become the franchise’s number one rusher.
Johnson is just 75 yards away from becoming the Chiefs’ all-time leading rusher, an honor these fans don’t feel the former Penn State great and first-round pick deserves.
The petition reads:
“We are asking you, as fans of this team, this organization, and of the pride that this city has in the Chiefs, please deactivate Larry Johnson. Please do not let his name sit atop the all-time rushing leaders in Kansas City Chiefs history,” the petition says. “He has never represented anything close to the values that we have for our Chiefs and it would be another dagger to the fans that continue to support this proud franchise.”
When I saw the headline “Fans ask for deactivation of Larry Johnson” I got really excited for a second because I thought someone might’ve signed the REAL Larry Johnson to a 10-day NBA contract. But then I realized he’d never cause such an uproar. LJ is a model fucking citizen. Class act.
