The Tennessean reported today that former Texas star/former 1st round pick/former face of the franchise/current crazyperson Vince Young will start for the Titans (0-6) on Sunday at home against Jacksonville (3-3). I know the Jags suck this year, but you can bet on them covering the three point spread already.
Young came into the game two weeks ago against New England before the Titans’ bye week, and has been taking more and more snaps during practice. This means that Kerry Collins can go back to what he does best, drinking and being racist. Still, Young is a trainwreck, and his stats this season (0 for 5, o yds. passing, 0 TD, 1 INT, 0.0 QB rating) haven’t exactly inspired confidence.
Still, Jeff Fisher is at the end of his rope, the Titans’ owner wants a QB change, and the Titans actually owe Vince some money this season based on their evaluation of him and his potential. They need to have him show what he can do, crazy or not. The ship is sinking in Tennessee fast, and they need to see if Vince could be the guy to right that ship.
FYI Jeff, he probably won’t be.
