Troy Duffy still loves himself 10 years later

There’s a Boondock Saints sequel getting ready to drop into a limited release on October 30th, I’ll post the trailer below. Anyways, the New York Times had a nice interview with director Troy Duffy last week, in which Duffy proves that he still hasn’t learned a damn thing in the ten years since the original film debuted.

The story is that when Duffy wrote the original BS, it was one of the hottest scripts in Hollywood. He was given a ton of money by Miramax and Harvey Weinstein to direct the film, but slowly and surely everything hit the fan once Duffy didn’t make good on a lot of his promises. This is all chronicled in the great documentary, Overnight, which you can find on Netflix.

Anyways, by the time Duffy was through fucking everything up/getting fucked by the Weinstein Co., Boondock Saints had a short one-week theatrical run, and went to die in movie stores for all eternity.

Then as most of us know,  it picked up a cult following and became one of the best loved movies of lax bros, frat kids, and idiots that get Boondock quotes tattooed on themselves across America. The funny part of the story is that out of the reportedly $50 million the original’s done in DVD sales, Duffy hasn’t seen a fucking cent based on the shitty original contract he signed with Miramax. Fantastic reading of the fine print, sir.

Anyways take a look at the article. In it Duffy proves he’s still full of shit, talking about the sacredness of the project and any other garbage he can spew out of his mouth.

Here’s the trailer. I know I’ll probably still see the flick at some point, not because I like Duffy, but because I LOVE Judd Nelson:
