According to this report by NESN’s John Beattie (referencing this original report from The New York Post), former Celtics guard Stephon Marbury will sit out the 2009-2010 NBA season after failing to sign with another team in the offseason.
There were some discussions between Marbury and the C’s in hopes of bringing the veteran guard back as a backup this season for the veteran minimum, but those talks fell through after Marbury requested more money…and then started video blogging all day.
He played well in spurts last season while playing in 24 regular season games and 14 playoff games. He never showed the all-star skills he had in places like Minnesota, Phoenix, and New York, but he was a solid contributor off of the bench down the stretch.
Says Marbury:
“‘I’m resting, doing what Michael Jordan did, enjoy life, do things I haven’t done in 16 years, keep building my empire,’ Marbury told the Post. ‘I wasn’t going to Boston for that money. It was a prudent business decision to take off this year.’”
So I suppose we can see Starbury taking up baseball and doing these sorts of commercials for McDonalds:
