Here’s the trailer for Patton Oswalt’s Big Fan, which is out in limited release but unfortunately isn’t going to be released wide, a shame because it looks pretty damn good. It’s been getting solid reviews as well, garnering an 81% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film was written and directed by Robert Siegel, who also wrote The Wrestler. It follows Oswalt’s character, a devout NY Giants fan, who one night sees one of his favorite players at a gas station in New Jersey. He follows the player into the city and finally musters up the courage to talk to him and explain the whole thing.
In actual-Giants-player-fashion, the player flips his shit and he and his entourage beat on Oswalt. What follows is a media fiasco with Oswalt square in the middle, as he decides whether or not to press charges and ruin his team’s season, or carry on like nothing ever happened.
I’m trying to decide which Boston sports personality I would actually prefer have beat the shit out of me so I could ruin his life…
